Fixie Alternative: Dedicated IP Pair, HTTP + SOCKS5

Fixie is a long-running static IP proxy (since 2015, SOC 2 certified) with US and EU regions and separate HTTP and SOCKS5 products. Fixedmark is planned as a Fixie alternative for teams that want a dedicated IP pair from $29/mo, Mumbai and Singapore regions, and HTTP, SOCKS5, and a tunnel CLI in one plan. Fixedmark is in early access, so Fixie is the choice if you need a production service today.

One plan for HTTP and SOCKS5

Per Fixie's pricing page, Fixie (HTTP and HTTPS) and Fixie Socks (SOCKS5 for databases, FTP, and SSH) are priced as separate subscriptions. An app that calls a partner API and also connects to an IP-restricted Postgres database needs both.

Fixedmark plans to put HTTP CONNECT, SOCKS5, and the bm tunnel CLI in every plan, on the same IP pair. You allowlist two addresses once, for both your API calls and your database driver.

Ask who else uses the pair

Fixie's documentation says each proxy group has two static IPs and load-balances requests across them. Its pricing page calls them dedicated static IPs and says you keep them when you change plans. It does not say publicly whether one proxy group serves one customer or several, so ask Fixie if that matters to your partner.

Fixedmark's planned Pro plan at $29/mo reserves a pair for your account only, and says so on the plan. This matters when a bank, a broker, or a partner's security team asks whether anyone else can send traffic from the IPs you registered.

Indian bank and broker allowlists

Fixie's Heroku listing shows United States and Europe for the Common Runtime, and Fixie Socks lists Heroku Private Spaces in more regions, including Mumbai and Singapore. Check with Fixie which egress locations it offers for direct sign-ups.

For Indian destinations, the bigger question is usually exclusivity. A broker registering your IP under SEBI's retail algo rules, or a bank onboarding you for payouts, wants to know the address is yours alone. Fixedmark plans a pair reserved for your account in Mumbai, Chennai, or Bangalore at $29/mo, with Singapore, Jakarta, Tokyo, and Sydney also at launch. See regions.

When to choose Fixie instead

Fixie is a reasonable choice in several cases, and we would rather you pick the right tool:

  • You need a static IP in production today. Fixedmark is in early access and has no live customers yet.
  • Your security review requires a SOC 2 report now. Fixie is SOC 2 certified and shares its report on request. Fixedmark does not have one.
  • You run on Heroku and want the IP billed through your Heroku account as an add-on.
  • You only make a few thousand HTTP requests a month to a US or EU destination. Fixie's $5 HTTP plan is cheaper than Fixedmark's planned $9 Starter.
  • You want a provider with a long operating history and a published availability figure.

When Fixedmark fits better

Fixedmark is built for apps on Vercel, Railway, Supabase, Render, and Fly.io that need one of these:

  • An IP pair reserved for your account only, for a bank, broker, or partner allowlist, without enterprise pricing.
  • A Mumbai pair you can tell a broker or bank is used by no one else.
  • HTTP and database traffic on the same IPs, under one subscription.
  • Proxy credentials sent over TLS to the proxy, not in cleartext on port 80.
  • You can wait for launch. Join early access to get a proxy URL when your region opens.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fixedmark a drop-in replacement for Fixie?

For HTTP traffic, yes in most cases. Both use a standard proxy URL, so you swap the URL in your environment variable. Fixedmark's endpoint is TLS-wrapped (https:// on port 443), so your HTTP client must support HTTPS proxies. Node undici, Python requests with urllib3 1.26+, Go net/http, and curl do. You will also need to allowlist the new IPs with each destination.

Can I keep my Fixie IPs if I switch?

No. IPs belong to the provider that assigns them. Plan an overlap: add your Fixedmark IPs to each allowlist, switch traffic, then remove the old IPs.

Does Fixedmark have SOC 2 like Fixie?

Not yet. Fixie is SOC 2 certified. Fixedmark is in early access and plans a security page and DPA at launch, with SOC 2 on the roadmap.

Is Fixedmark cheaper than Fixie?

It depends on the tier. Fixie's entry HTTP plan is $5/mo and Fixedmark's planned Starter is $9/mo. At the mid tier, Fixedmark's planned $29 Pro includes a dedicated IP pair, SOCKS5, and 500,000 requests. Compare your expected requests and bandwidth on both pricing pages.
